Season 4 Spring Gauntlet MVP – iceicebaby

| Article | April 19th, 2017

The Gauntlet truly brought out the best out of a lot of teams. With Oxygen Supremacy going the distance in an impressive 7-2 record out of North America until In Memory of Gabe knocked them out. Then in the European side where Team Rival beat Elevate and Eanix to reach the final boss, NRG eSports, on Sunday Finals. Having beat the three European teams, going the distance in Game Three for all 3 sets, they played against SoaR gaming in the finals to make quick work out of the North American qualified team into Masters. With a quick 2-0 under their belt and the last game surrendered in 20 minutes by SoaR, Rival played 11 games throughout the tournament. With the winning team hailing from Europe, one particular stood out above in this roster and that player is none other than the jungler for Team Rival, iceicebaby.

Aleksandar “iceicebaby” Zahariev put on quite a show this past weekend. Leading his team to victory throughout the course of 11 games, he racked up a solid 4.5 Total KDA, highest of his team. Playing five different gods, he certainly favored playing the Susano, Thor, and Serqet picking them three times each. Also confident enough to bring about the Chang’e and Kali, both against NRG to start things off and end the set respectively. It’s been a while since we’ve seen this late game Goddess of Destruction come out in the battleground of the gods but Aleksandar was fearless and played around his teammates in order to get to that late game hyper carry potential. Closing the set out against NRG, iceicebaby had some confident words after.

“We’ll try to replicate what we did in the Gauntlet and we’ll win Masters as well. Obviously we’ll have less time to prepare to the new patch than some of the other teams which is a bit of a setback, thankfully there’s not too many changes. As long as we are more consistent in securing objectives or don’t get ricocheted out of the tournament I feel we have good chances at winning. – iceicebaby”

It took a committed squad to win the way Team Rival did during the Gauntlet and this crew that stuck together during the “Rosterpocalypse” between Season Three and Four shows us just how strong their bond truly is.
