LG Dire Wolves set new record for the year, with Avant Garde and Legacy Esports posting strong results this week.

SMITE OPL action was stacked this week, with all matchups pitting veteran teams against the newcomers. This sets the stage for potential upsets and gives the newer teams some great insight, fighting the more experienced squads. How did they fare? Read on to find out!

Avant Garde were up first, playing Kanga Esports for the first time this split. With no prior experience playing each other, they were both playing relatively blind. Unfortunately the Kangas were unable to put a win on the board, and experience on the Avant side under captain Tomolomu allowed them to take the victory 2-0.

Dark Sided, led by OPL veteran Gruff, utilising experience from the grand finals against Dire Wolves last year, demonstrated they are a team to be reckoned with. Last week they took a game from heavyweights Legacy. This week were up against top team LG Dire Wolves. Although they are a promising side, the final result was 2-0 to Dire Wolves.

LG Dire Wolves set a record for this split with the shortest game this year. Finishing in only 16:30 the Wolfpack demonstrated that they haven’t been taking time off since Worlds. Two time SWC competitor Rowe, played Chang’e in jungle showing the influence of their scrims with Team Eager last year prior to SWC.

Legacy Esports may have faltered last week when they dropped a game to Dark Sided, though they came back determined this week and took their match against Team Noxide 2-0.

Week 3 Results:

  • Avant Garde vs Kanga Esports (2-0)
  • LG Dire Wolves vs Dark Sided (2-0)
  • LG Dire Wolves vs Kanga Esports (2-0)
