Week Three concludes in the Season 4 SPL Spring Split and now players will have a one week BYE period to recover and allow themselves more time to prepare for their next opponents. Lawbster out of Europe and ScaryD from North America shined in their respective regions this week.
Emil “Lawbster” Evensen
Normally Emil “Lawbster” Evensen is the sacrificial lamb of his team, whether it was on TSM, TRIG eSports, Paradigm, OrbitGG, or now with Valance Squad. However, this set was a different set of circumstances for the veteran Norwegian Mid Laner. During the first game playing Zeus against Lion Guard Esports, he was the main attention of his opposition. Knowing this, Lawbster built around that aggressive mindset from Lion Guard. Building into a resilient path of health and defenses aided Emil in numerous escapes during heavy onslaughts in the mid lane. Normally mid mages will opt to go for a pure glass cannon build but Lawbster’s build in the first game with the Mark of the Vanguard, Bumba’s Mask followed by Dynasty Plate Helmet after Shoes of the Magi was enough to not only survive the early game but get consistent damage throughout any team fight escalating his Zeus to the top of the player damage charts at the end of the game. This defensive style would be put on hold for Game Two playing the Poseidon. Transitioning into a more traditional mage build, going Soul Stone, Bumba’s Mask and Shoes of the Magi followed up by the standard Gem of Isolation paired up with Fatalis. Selling off the Bumba’s Mask closer to the mid-late stages of the game for a full Spear of the Magus not only boosted his own damage but any other follow up damage from Xaliea playing the Xing Tian in the Solo Lane.
“Rebuilding a team is never easy, but honestly Cherryo and BigManTingz have made the transition into a new team extremely painless. We planned to use this split as a synergy and teamwork builder. We’ve done just that and exceeded our own and probably others expectations. I am very thankful to my boys for working together overcoming our opponents showcasing that hard work definitely prevails. Just shoutout to the new additions to the team; Slainy bigman and cherryo for making the team feel like home so quickly.”
Lawbster and Valance Squad will face Obey Alliance this Thursday, March 16th, 1:00 PM EST (7:00 PM CET) followed up by squaring off against a stronger Elevate roster on Saturday, March 18th, 4:30 PM EST (10:30 PM CET). Catch all the action on HiRezTV!
Ronald “ScaryD” Belair
Last week, Ronald “ScaryD” Belair had an amazing performance on the Thanatos and Hercules against SoaR Gaming. Earning himself the player spotlight for his Week Three match against Team Allegiance and CycloneSpin. Game One playing the Hades, Ronald makes his presences known fast in the game by out rotating his Terra solo lane opponent. Having 25 seconds still on his teleport for CycloneSpin, the team fight was 5v4 in favor of Luminosity and ScaryD started off with two quick assists at the 8-minute mark. The first game ended in a early 24 minute surrender with the Luminosity solo laner having participated in 13 of the 14 total team kills, 5 of them under his name. Game Two playing the Amaterasu, ScaryD was making a bigger impact in team fights than CycloneSpin that was on the Terra again. Having a lot of mobility between maxing out his Divine Presence, along having Shield of Regrowth, gave the Luminosity solo laner more mobility. As a result of this movement speed, ScaryD was able to rotate to team fights before CycloneSpin and pick up more farm throughout the map which gave him the highest Net Worth in the game.
Luminosity and ScaryD will be challenged Week Five against In Memory of Gabe Sunday, March 19th, 6:15 PM EST (00:15 AM CET) on HiRezTV!
